Our Story

It’s now more than half a century since our family first began farming in Yeo Valley. In that time, lots of exciting changes have taken place. Here’s a little at-a-glance timeline to give you an idea of how we started and how far we’ve come.

    Roger and Mary Mead put down roots in the valley. They started out at Holt Farms with 30 cows, a few sheep and some arable crops.

    We tried making yogurt with skimmed milk left over from our clotted cream and it was….delicious! So, we started selling it around the valley from our Morris Minor van.

    The Yeo Valley organic yogurt journey begins.

    Yeo Valley launches its first ever TV advert starring the rapping farmers.

    A half-century and lots to celebrate! Fifty years in the valley and our third Queen’s award for Sustainable Development.

    Coombe Farm Fruits is purchased, allowing Yeo Valley to own the procurement and processing of all organic fruit preps for the Yeo Valley yogurts.

    Was a big year for the Yeo Valley brand! The introduction of Yeokens on packs, a continued rise in the list of the Top 100 Grocery brands (now at 51), the opening of the Yeo Valley Canteen to the public and joining up with local farmer, Luke to host Valley Fest.

    £15m of investment into yogurts, desserts and ice cream manufacturing capability.

    The Yeo Valley organic brand partners with farmer owned co-operative Arla foods on milk, butter and cheese products.

    We opened the Yeo Valley Café in Queensway, London. The biggest celebration of all has to be 25 years of the Yeo Valley organic brand.



Yeo Valley remains a privately owned, family run farm and dairy business. We hope we’ll be farming and producing a great range of products here forever.
