So, what will I be doing?

Are you passionate about driving performance, innovation, and continuous improvement in engineering? We’re looking for an Engineering Performance & Improvement Manager to join our Central Engineering team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of asset care and engineering strategy.

The Role

As a leader within a Co-Owned business, it is a priority to drive sustainable engagement within the engineering function and more widely through involvement and empowerment, enabling the growth and development of our teams.

As part of the Engineering Leadership group, you’ll be at the heart of developing and deploying strategies that enhance asset performance, reliability, and sustainability across multiple sites. You’ll influence, coach, and support site-based Engineering Managers and their teams, ensuring skills, processes, and technologies align with the future needs of the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving improvements in asset performance through effective Asset Care strategy.

  • Supporting site teams in developing multi-year engineering and environmental plans.

  • Leading continuous improvement programs that deliver sustainable reliability and efficiency gains.

  • Developing and embedding robust Condition Based Monitoring and CMMS solutions.

  • Driving environmental performance and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

  • Supporting capability development within the Engineering Leadership group and apprenticeship schemes.

  • Leading shared inventory rationalisation and optimisation initiatives.

Sounds interesting, what do I need?

We need an experienced leader with a proven track record in engineering performance and improvement within a fast-paced FMCG environment. You should bring:

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, ideally across multiple sites.

  • Experience in delivering capital engineering investments in process and packaging plants.

  • Supplier relationship management expertise.

  • Preferably experience in short shelf-life / high-care categories (dairy desirable).

  • Degree in an engineering discipline (postgraduate and project management/continuous improvement qualifications desirable).

You’ll also demonstrate our leadership principles: humility, transparency, inclusivity, trust, and good humour—ensuring that work is not only effective but engaging and fun

Why should I join the family?

Operating from four dairies and two logistics centres in Somerset and Devon, we employ over 1700 staff and produce more than 25% of the UK’s packaged yogurt.

We’re sure you don’t need convincing, but there’s a whole host of benefits that we offer including:

  • competitive holiday allowance
  • 7% non-contributory pension scheme
  • life cover
  • healthcare cash back plan
  • cycle to work scheme
  • subsidised Yeo Valley products and services
  • preferential rates with our partners
  • annual bonus (as part of the Employee Benefit Trust, based on company performance for the year)

  • We have structures and ways of working that support us in influencing the direction of our company
  • We are transparent about our plans

  • Be interested in how our company is developing, our future plans and the culture of co-ownership
  • Take part in conversations and share your opinions on how to make Yeo Valley Production a great place to work
  • Understand or question decisions that do not seem to fit with our purpose, goals and culture
